🌟 Team and Role:
At Merkle Science, we are creating the infrastructure necessary to ensure the safe and healthy growth of the industry, supporting the transition as cryptocurrencies consolidate with the $22 trillion financial services market. Merkle Science envisions a world powered by crypto. We are the architects enabling crypto companies — trailblazers and disruptors who are pushing the boundaries of innovation — to scale and mature so that a full range of individuals, entities, and services may transact with crypto safely. We are located across the globe with offices in Singapore, London, Bangalore and New York (upcoming). Merkle Science was founded in early 2019. Today we boast of over 60 customers, and we are just getting started.
As a Senior Product Designer at Merkle Science, you will collaborate with a brilliant, friendly cross-functional team to create experiences that delight users and support our growing business. It’s a very close-knit team, and we laugh everything out, mostly. Also, you will be amongst the fractional few folks who have made it into the Blockchain Space early on by being a part of the family.
⚡️ What does the Product do?
We boast of the best user experience amongst our peers and unmatched customizability. On a high level, we have two products. One is an investigation tool that helps the user track the flow of funds once a scam or a hack occurs. Intelligence wings and government bodies mostly use this product. The other product is a compliance tool that ensures that we can help crypto companies, financial institutions, regulators, and banks monitor the kind of funds flowing and stop the bad players from using crypto to do something wrong, such as transduction over darknet or fraud. We also provide intelligence services and reports. Did we mention that we are working on some super innovative and bold products that we cannot share details about here?
💥 What will you do?
As a Senior Product Designer, you will
Own individual modules under the product umbrella and shape the evolution under the guidance of a Lead Product Designer.
Work closely with product and engineering in light of customer research to build and ship new ideas.
Analyze incoming user feedback, analytics from behaviour and usage tracking software and weigh them against business objectives to enhance the product continuously.
Collaborate very closely with junior team members. We follow a breadth-first and depth later approach which almost always keeps us on our feet.
Own the product releases and collaborate with the dev and QA team to ensure seamless delivery over the last mile.
Co-own and manage the design system and keep evolving it as and when necessary to keep up with best practices and design trends.
Work through design problems from beginning to end: translating product direction, research insights, and data into ideas that form disruptive new products and features and improving and simplifying existing workflows.
Sketch and prototype ideas to quickly assess the viability and design the workflows and fine-grained details of interactions.
🙋 What makes you a great addition to the team?
Merkle Science has a meritocratic culture, so not meeting any of these pointers below does not affect your candidacy in any negative way. However, in general, it helps to have
You use data and research to inform your design decisions and bring a strong sense of empathy and a user-centric approach to design.
You are into the details that help make an experience enjoyable for our customers while seeing how those details impact the larger product experience.
You have an industrial experience of 1.5-2 yrs, you understand fast-paced enterprise design and are comfortable with occasional ambiguity.
You are creative and open to critique with the ability to focus on the design challenges that come with creating software experiences. You are an excellent problem solver and can provide quick solutions to complex design problems for software interactions.
You enjoy the process of discovery with customers and have experience conducting customer interviews.
You have an eye for pixel perfection, micro-interactions and overall delight in the product.
You have excellent written and verbal skills that include expressing your ideas to designers, developers, and management.
Exposure to Crypto and Blockchain is excellent, but we believe that the domain knowledge can be gathered pretty quickly if you have a learner’s mentality. We boast of a thorough onboarding process that will ensure that you seamlessly transition into the blockchain space irrespective of where you are today.
👀 What process do we follow?
Application: We will keep it simple. You can apply directly through our job portal. All we ask for is a Resume and Portfolio link (recommended). Don’t worry if you haven’t been able to document things. We just need a glimpse into the kind of work you have done, so even a PDF works.
Screening: We will screen your profile and get back with a decision within a week.
Interviews: We will have two rounds of Design interviews. One round will focus on previous projects and the other a little bit on some whiteboarding and brainstorming.
Meet the Co-Founders: Culture-Fit is essential for both you and us. So we always go the extra mile, and you will meet one or both of our Co-Founders.
Offer Rollout: If all looks well, we will open a bottle of champagne.
📢 Other information you may want to consider
We will be flexible for the rest of the pandemic and work remotely; however, we are not a remote-first company, and the work location would be Bangalore when things settle. The product team at Merkle is heavily driven by growth, and if you would like to, there will be numerous opportunities to experiment with growth loops and metrics. We are expanding internationally and heavily in the US, so there could be opportunities on that front in a few months with avenues of design roadshows. You will report to the Lead Product Designer directly along with guidance from the Head of Product.
❤️ Well Being, Compensation and Benefits
We care about your well-being. Along with excellent health insurance, we offer flexible time off, numerous Learning & development initiatives where Merkle Science invests in employee development, and working hours that we have not heard a single complaint against. We respect your weekends too :) We regularly host team-building sessions and encourage discussions around mental well-being as well.
On the compensation front, We admire the talent and believe in rewarding people for their inputs. Compensation is best in class, along with generous equity, and the whole process will be transparent from the very minute we speak to you.
